\u201c<\/span>Zwielicht<\/span>\u201d, qui signifie litt\u00e9ralement \u201ccr\u00e9puscule\u201d, est le 4<\/span>\u00e8me<\/span><\/span> album des allemands de <\/span>Mental Cruelty<\/span>. <\/span>Il faut dire que le groupe ne ch\u00f4me pas, car ils sortent aujourd\u2019hui leur quatri\u00e8me offrande en seulement 5 ans de carri\u00e8re, on ne pourra pas leur reprocher leur cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9. <\/span>Mais ce nouvel album <\/span>marque un nouveau tournant dans la carri\u00e8re du groupe : notamment un changement de label, exit <\/span>Unique Leader Records <\/span>et bienvenue chez <\/span>Century Media <\/span>(poids lourd du metal extr\u00eame), et un changement de frontman apr\u00e8s les d\u00e9boires de leur ancien. C’est avec de nouvelles ambitions que nous retrouvons le groupe, et le moins qu’on puisse dire c’est qu’ils ont mis le paquet\u2026 L’\u00e9volution du groupe est vraiment int\u00e9ressante : les albums du d\u00e9but, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire \u201c<\/span>Purgatorium<\/span>\u201d et \u201c<\/span>Inferis<\/span>\u201d\u00a0 \u00e9taient du pur deathcore, mais c’est avec \u201c<\/span>A Hill to Die Upon<\/span>\u201d que le groupe a beaucoup \u00e9volu\u00e9 musicalement et surtout gagn\u00e9 en popularit\u00e9. Aujourd\u2019hui, ils sont consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme l’un des piliers du blackened deathcore : un mouvement qui m\u00e9lange les \u00e9l\u00e9ments du black metal et du deathcore. \u201c<\/span>A Hill to Die Upon<\/span>\u201d \u00e9tait une r\u00e9ussite artistique qui a mis tout le monde d’accord et deux ans plus tard le groupe revient avec <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Zwielicht<\/span>\u201d<\/span>. Que peut-on attendre de cet album ? Sauront-ils \u00e0 nouveau se renouveler ou, bien au contraire, faire du r\u00e9chauff\u00e9 ?<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s plusieurs \u00e9coutes, le constat est \u00e9vident et sans appel, <\/span>Mental Cruelty <\/span>poursuit son \u00e9volution en y int\u00e9grant plus d’\u00e9motions et de noirceur dans leur son. Mais avant de se plonger dans ce nouvel album, parlons un peu de la promotion et de la nouvelle direction artistique choisie par le groupe. La nouvelle recrue au micro est certainement le plus gros changement fait par le groupe. Si vous avez regard\u00e9 les 3 clips vid\u00e9o des 3 singles d\u00e9voil\u00e9s par le groupe, le frontman est maquill\u00e9 comme les chanteurs de black metal des ann\u00e9es 90\/2000. J’ai trouv\u00e9 \u00e7a tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressant de ne pas prendre un copi\u00e9\/coll\u00e9 de l’ancien frontman et de proposer une nouvelle formule. <\/span>Lukas Nicolai<\/span> propose une palette plus diversifi\u00e9e et plus ouverte que l’avait fait auparavant <\/span>Lucca Schmerler<\/span>, et pour ceux qui ont vu et \u00e9cout\u00e9 les singles, ils ont compl\u00e8tement embrass\u00e9 leur c\u00f4t\u00e9 black metal. J’ai \u00e9galement appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 leur volont\u00e9 de se rapprocher de leurs origines allemandes : le titre de l’album et surtout cette petite chanson \u00e9ponyme chant\u00e9e dans leur langue natale, est un petit plus tr\u00e8s agr\u00e9able. Musicalement, leur pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent effort \u00e9tait facile \u00e0 assimiler, avec des chansons plus rentre-dedans mais ce <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Zwielicht<\/span>\u201d<\/span> est plus long \u00e0 comprendre et bien plus int\u00e9ressant \u00e0 conna\u00eetre. C’est avec un tout nouveau line-up que le groupe repart conqu\u00e9rir le monde<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Ce nouvel album s’ouvre avec \u201c<\/span>Midtvinter<\/span>\u201d, une instrumentale qui annonce d’entr\u00e9e la couleur. Les sonorit\u00e9s se veulent bien plus mena\u00e7antes et froides (avec un titre pareil j’aurais difficilement pu dire le contraire). Une fois le vent glacial pass\u00e9, on plonge directement dans \u201c<\/span>Obsessis a Daemonio<\/span>\u201d et la nouvelle facette du groupe peut \u00e9clater au grand jour. C’est grandiose tout simplement : les orchestrations se veulent bien plus imposantes que par le pass\u00e9, les encha\u00eenements de riffs sont typ\u00e9s core et black et sont ultra pr\u00e9cis, le frontman prouve d’entr\u00e9e qu’il est le choix parfait pour ce nouveau chapitre du groupe\u2026 et la cerise sur le g\u00e2teau (je ne m’y attendais pas d\u00e8s la premi\u00e8re chanson), c\u2019est le clean du frontman qui enfonce le clou et donne une dimension plus \u00e9motionnelle et prenante. Cette premi\u00e8re piste est une vraie r\u00e9ussite, <\/span>Mental Cruelty <\/span>tape fort d’entr\u00e9e de jeu. \u201c<\/span>Forgotten Kings<\/span>\u201d est le premier single d\u00e9voil\u00e9 par le groupe et montre une nouvelle fois l’\u00e9volution naturelle amorc\u00e9e par le groupe : le mix entre le deathcore et le black metal est \u00e0 point. Il est inutile de vous faire un descriptif de chaque chanson, car comme je vous l’ai mentionn\u00e9 plus haut, il vous faudra plusieurs \u00e9coutes pour comprendre cet album\u2026 et le fait de le d\u00e9couvrir par soi-m\u00eame est encore une bien meilleure exp\u00e9rience. \u00c9videmment il y a quelques chansons qui sortent du lot et qui montrent tout le talent d’\u00e9criture des deux guitaristes (car ce sont eux les compositeurs du groupe), telles que \u201c<\/span>Pest<\/span>\u201d, \u201c<\/span>Mortal Shell<\/span>\u201d et \u201c<\/span>A Tale of Salt and Light<\/span>\u201d, qui se d\u00e9marquent par leurs envol\u00e9es symphoniques et leur c\u00f4t\u00e9 plus \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9pique\u00a0\u00bb. N\u00e9anmoins il y a un point o\u00f9 j’ai \u00e9t\u00e9 un petit peu d\u00e9\u00e7u, je trouve que le c\u00f4t\u00e9 deathcore est \u00e9clips\u00e9 de l\u2019album et que \u00e7a manque de moments plus lourds. Seuls quelques breaks et growls me rappellent ce c\u00f4t\u00e9 plus rentre dedans du groupe.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Finalement que retenir de ce <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Zwielicht<\/span>\u201d<\/span> ? <\/span>Vous l’aurez compris, <\/span>Mental Cruelty <\/span>est \u00e0 l’apog\u00e9e de son art, le changement de direction artistique et musicale leur va comme un gant : ils ont trouv\u00e9 leur propre identit\u00e9 et cet album en est le parfait exemple, m\u00eame s’il y a quelques d\u00e9fauts m\u00eame s’il sont mineurs. Cet album reste une v\u00e9ritable r\u00e9ussite artistique et il me tarde de voir comment le groupe va encore \u00e9voluer.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
