Il y a eu un grand changement chez les \u00e9cossais de GloryHammer <\/b>avec le d\u00e9part du charismatique chanteur Thomas Winkler<\/i>, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9 par un chypriote : Sozos Michael<\/i> (qui reprend le r\u00f4le d’Angus McFife<\/i>), que j’ai d\u00e9couvert au Hellfest <\/b>l’an dernier et qui m’a convaincu avec un timbre de voix tr\u00e8s proche de celui de son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur. Il reste \u00e0 voir ce que cela va donner au niveau des compositions sur un album complet et c’est qu’on va voir tous ensemble ! En tout cas, au niveau de l’artwork de \u00ab\u00a0Return to the Kingdom of Fife<\/i><\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, on est sur la continuit\u00e9 de ce que propose GloryHammer <\/b>avec des terres ravag\u00e9es, un ch\u00e2teau en ruine et un joli champignon nucl\u00e9aire pour faire bon poids bonne mesure ! Au niveau des titres, le petit guide touristique des villages \u00e9cossais continue avec Pittenweem et Abernethy. L’album comporte 10 titres dont le dernier qui dure 12 minutes comme c’est souvent la norme avec GloryHammer<\/b>. Il est temps d’aller \u00e9couter la suite des aventures d’Angus McFife<\/i> contre les hordes du sorcier Zargothrax <\/i>!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Fini de discuter, c’est parti pour les choses s\u00e9rieuses. En dehors de l’intro \u00ab\u00a0Incomming Transmission<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, qui est d’ailleurs assez classique pour le style, je sens que l’album est divis\u00e9 en 2 parties, notamment au niveau du chant. La premi\u00e8re partie de \u00ab\u00a0Return to the Kingdom of Fife<\/i><\/u>\u00a0\u00bb (jusque \u00ab\u00a0Fife Eternal<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0), Sozos Michael<\/i> semble sur la retenue et chante sur un ton plus grave. L’effet est pas d\u00e9sagr\u00e9able mais retire une peu le c\u00f4t\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0foufou\u00a0\u00bb du groupe. Je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re la seconde partie avec ce chant plus aig\u00fce et qui est vraiment la marque des grands titres de GloryHammer<\/b>. Apr\u00e8s l’introduction, l’album se lance avec \u00ab\u00a0Holy Flaming Hammer of Unholy Cosmic Frost<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb (oui ils aiment toujours autant les titres \u00e0 rallonge) et ses claviers en avant. Le rythme est sympathique mais le chant plus grave enl\u00e8ve de la folie. M\u00eame constat pour \u00ab\u00a0Imperium Dundaxia<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb qui est dans la continuit\u00e9, mais reste un morceau efficace. \u00ab\u00a0Wasteland Warrior Hoots Patrol<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb apporte un peu de folie gr\u00e2ce aux claviers de Christopher Bowes<\/i> mis en avant, pendant que \u00ab\u00a0Brothers of Crail<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb suit la trace des grands hymnes du groupe, en \u00e9tant taill\u00e9 pour le live.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On entame ce que je qualifie de seconde partie de l’album avec ce changement dans le chant de Sozos Michael<\/i>. Ce changement se manifeste par des couplets chant\u00e9s avec une voix plus aig\u00fce sur \u00ab\u00a0Fife Eternal<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb o\u00f9\u00a0Noa Gruman<\/i> (Scardust<\/span>\/Hellscore<\/span>) est invit\u00e9e au chant. Le refrain est bon, le duo guitare\/clavier est bien ex\u00e9cut\u00e9, cette \u00ab\u00a0seconde\u00a0\u00bb partie s’amorce tr\u00e8s bien ! Petite introduction grandiloquente avec des effets \u00e9lectros et \u00ab\u00a0Sword Lord of the Goblin Horde<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb d\u00e9bute. Elle oscille entre la power balade et du power classique, le refrain en ch\u0153ur est tr\u00e8s bon et Sozos Michael<\/i> se l\u00e2che (enfin !) sur la fin du titre. La petite tourn\u00e9e des villes d’\u00c9cosse commence avec \u00ab\u00a0Vorpal Laserblast of Pittenweem<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb : probablement le titre le plus rapide de \u00ab\u00a0Return to the Kingdom of Fife<\/i><\/u>\u00a0\u00bb avec \u00ab\u00a0Maleficus Geminus (Colossus Matrix 38B – Ultimate Invocation of the Binary Thaumaturge)<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. Ben Turk<\/i> appose quelques blast beats \u00e0 la batterie, Paul Trempling<\/i> en profite aussi pour l\u00e2cher un solo de guitare bien rythm\u00e9. On prend la voiture pour faire 50km vers le Nord-Ouest et atteindre le \u00ab\u00a0Keeper of the Celestial Flame of Abernethy<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, morceau plus fun avec un refrain efficace qui ressemble beaucoup \u00e0 du Beast in Black<\/b> !<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Je termine par mon p\u00e9ch\u00e9 mignon : une chanson de plus de 10 minutes (12:10 exactement) et un titre extr\u00eamement long : \u00ab\u00a0Maleficus Geminus (Colossus Matrix 38B – Ultimate Invocation of the Binary Thaumaturge)<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb ! L’introduction et le d\u00e9but sont assez sombres avec un rythme tr\u00e8s rapide. Cette premi\u00e8re partie dure presque 5 minutes avant de repartir avec une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au refrain du hit \u00ab\u00a0Gloryhammer<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. Les soli sont tr\u00e8s cools et am\u00e8nent sur une fin moins sombre mais plus rapide avec de nombreux blasts avec des voix \u00e9lectroniques. Une bien belle conclusion.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

GloryHammer <\/b>nous offre un album un peu in\u00e9gal, notamment au chant du nouveau Angus McFife<\/i>\u00a0:\u00a0les premiers morceaux sont chant\u00e9s un poil trop grave \u00e0 mon go\u00fbt et font perdre tout le c\u00f4t\u00e9 festif et d\u00e9cal\u00e9 du groupe au profit de quelque chose de plus s\u00e9rieux qui n’est pas forc\u00e9ment l’image du groupe. Cela \u00e9volue au fur et \u00e0 mesure de l’album pour retourner \u00e0 ses racines avec un chant plus aig\u00fce et donc des chansons que je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re ! Musicalement parlant, GloryHammer <\/b>n’a rien perdu de sa patte dans la composition de chansons accrocheuses avec des refrains qui seront repris par le public en concert !\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
