Kamelot <\/b>est probablement le groupe le plus hyperactif qui existe. Depuis plus de 10 ans le groupe tourne non stop et sort des albums r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement. Malgr\u00e9 tout, les albums restent bons, Tommy Karevik<\/i> a bien pris sa place depuis le d\u00e9part de l’immense Roy Khan<\/i>. A contrario de beaucoup de groupes, la phase de promotion de l’album a \u00e9t\u00e9 relativement courte, avec un premier single \u00ab\u00a0One More flag In The Ground<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb sorti a peine 2 mois avant la sortie de \u00ab\u00a0The Awakening<\/i><\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. Deux autres titres sont sortis durant cet intervalle : \u00ab\u00a0Opus Of The Night (Ghost Requiem)<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0Eventide<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. Trois titres en 2 mois, personnellement je ne l’interpr\u00e8te pas forc\u00e9ment comme un bon signe sur la qualit\u00e9 de l’album. Voyons voir si mes doutes sont fond\u00e9s !<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

L’album commence avec une introduction \u00ab\u00a0Ouverture<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb de bonne facture avec une belle mont\u00e9e en puissance pour encha\u00eener sur \u00ab\u00a0The Great Divide<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. La batterie lance le titre, qui est un des plus rapides de \u00ab\u00a0The Awakening<\/i><\/u>\u00a0\u00bb (et un des plus r\u00e9ussi), mais souffre d’un chant un peu en retrait des guitares et d’un refrain un peu surproduit, qui risque d’\u00eatre difficile \u00e0 adapter en live. En parlant de titres r\u00e9ussis, malheureusement, il n’y en a pas tant que \u00e7a. Les trois titres suivants ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9voil\u00e9s : \u00ab\u00a0Eventide<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, \u00ab\u00a0One More Flag In The Ground<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0Opus Of The Night (Ghost Requiem)<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. Le premier, \u00e0 l’inverse de \u00ab\u00a0The Great Divide<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb pr\u00e9sente des guitares sous mix\u00e9es avec une petite originalit\u00e9 sur le pont mais reste un bon titre. Le second, lui, est le moins bon morceau de l’album selon moi. Il souffre du \u00ab\u00a0syndr\u00f4me Epica<\/b>\u00a0\u00bb : le single \u00ab\u00a0radio\u00a0\u00bb est toujours sans aucune prise de risque et poss\u00e8de un refrain tr\u00e8s facile et paresseux, mais dans le cas de \u00ab\u00a0One More Flag In The Ground<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb tous ces d\u00e9fauts sont pouss\u00e9s \u00e0 leur paroxysme. Le troisi\u00e8me fait parti de la grande tradition des titres de Kamelot<\/b>, c’est-\u00e0-dire un titre avec une partie entre parenth\u00e8ses, et comme tr\u00e8s souvent le morceau est bon ! Il sonne \u00ab\u00a0\u00e0 l’ancienne\u00a0\u00bb, avec des ch\u0153urs en \u00e9cho qui apportent un relief bienvenu. Il faut \u00e9galement noter la pr\u00e9sence de la violoncelliste Tina Guo<\/i> (qui encha\u00eene les collaboration dans le monde du metal<\/i>).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Je passerai rapidement sur \u00ab\u00a0Midsummer’s Eve<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, balade majoritairement chant\/piano d’influence celtique r\u00e9hauss\u00e9e par Tina Guo<\/i> au violoncelle et Florian Janoske<\/i> au violon, mais qui me laisse de marbre (si vous connaissez mon amour pour le piano, cela ne vous \u00e9tonnera pas !). Apr\u00e8s les influences celtiques, place aux influences orientales sur \u00ab\u00a0Bloodmoon<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb accompagn\u00e9es d’une structure syncop\u00e9e tr\u00e8s originale pour le groupe et rafraichissante. Petit b\u00e9mol avec le c\u00f4t\u00e9 oriental qui s’efface au fur et \u00e0 mesure avant de revenir en force sur le solo de guitare. \u00ab\u00a0Nightsky<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb est encore une fois un titre avec un refrain qui ne me convainc pas franchement, et ce n’est pas l’intro fa\u00e7on \u00e9lectro qui va changer mon avis, l’ensemble est un peu facile. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

C’est l’heure de la bascule (d\u00e9sol\u00e9 \u00e0 ceux qui n’ont pas la ref !) vers la fin de \u00ab\u00a0The Awakening<\/i><\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. Kamelot <\/b>retourne \u00e0 ce qui \u00e0 fait son succ\u00e8s avec \u00ab\u00a0The Looking Glass<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb : un bon riff de base de Tomas Youngblood<\/i> accompagn\u00e9 au clavier par Oliver Palotai<\/i> et \u00e7a marche ! Tommy Karevik<\/i> offre \u00e9galement une tr\u00e8s belle performance pour un des meilleurs titres de l’album. \u00ab\u00a0New Babylon<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, avec la pr\u00e9sence de Melissa Bonny<\/i> (Ad Infinitum<\/b>), d\u00e9bute par une intro assez grandiloquente mais plaisante, le refrain est tr\u00e8s bon et les growls se fondent tr\u00e8s bien dans l’ensemble. L’ambiance retombe avec \u00ab\u00a0Willow<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb (non pas le film et encore moins la s\u00e9rie !), qui est une nouvelle balade avec un duo chant\/piano sur sa premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9, qui ne me touche pas. La seconde partie, qui voit l’arriv\u00e9e des autres instruments est plus agr\u00e9able, mais n’\u00e9galera jamais \u00ab\u00a0The Haunting (Somewhere In Time)<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb par exemple. C’est maintenant l’heure de conclure \u00ab\u00a0The Awakening<\/i><\/u>\u00a0\u00bb avec \u00ab\u00a0My Pantheon (Forevemore)<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, qui poss\u00e8de les parenth\u00e8ses synonymes de bon titre ! Premi\u00e8re surprise, le tempo est ultra rapide, rappelant un titre comme \u00ab\u00a0Forever<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, les parties instrumentales sont tr\u00e8s bonnes. Seconde surprise, un petit retour des growls <\/i>assez inattendu qui fait plaisir ! Petite d\u00e9ception avec l’abus de multipistes sur le chant pendant le refrain qui emp\u00eache \u00ab\u00a0My Pantheon (Forevemore)<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb de tutoyer les \u00e9toiles. La transition avec l’outro \u00ab\u00a0Ephemera<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb est toutefois assez radicale, sans vrai lien.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Vous l’avez devin\u00e9 si vous avez bien lu, mon avis est tr\u00e8s mitig\u00e9 sur ce \u00ab\u00a0The Awakening<\/i><\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. Certes quelques morceaux sont bons \u00ab\u00a0The Great Divide<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, \u00ab\u00a0Opus Of The Night (Ghost Requiem)<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb et surtout la fin de l’album avec \u00ab\u00a0New Babylon<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, \u00ab\u00a0The Looking Glass<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0My Pantheon (Forevemore)<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. Le probl\u00e8me se situe surtout entre le premier titre et les trois derniers cit\u00e9s avec un encha\u00eenement de morceaux faciles : \u00ab\u00a0Nightsky<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, \u00ab\u00a0Eventide<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb et la catastrophique \u00ab\u00a0One More Flag In The Ground<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, ainsi que deux balades assez dispensables : \u00ab\u00a0Midsummer’s Eve<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0Willow<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. Kamelot<\/b>, \u00e0 force d’\u00eatre hyperactif perd de son \u00e9nergie et surtout son inspiration. Une petite pause pourrait faire du bien ! Je vais \u00eatre pragmatique et simplement faire une moyenne, cinq tr\u00e8s bons titres, et cinq tr\u00e8s moyen (je ne compte pas \u00ab\u00a0Bloodmoon<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb que je consid\u00e8re comme n’appartenant \u00e0 aucun des 2 groupes) , le r\u00e9sultat donne une \u00e9galit\u00e9 parfaite et donc une note tout juste moyenne ! <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
