Qui dit nouvelle ann\u00e9e, dit nouvelle d\u00e9couverte ! C’est avec cet \u00e9tat d’esprit que j’ai d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de d\u00e9couvrir Beyond The Black<\/b> \u00e0 l’occasion de la sortie de leur 5\u00e8me album, l’\u00e9ponyme \u00ab\u00a0Beyond The Black<\/i><\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. J’ai mis de c\u00f4t\u00e9 mon appr\u00e9hension sur les titres d’albums \u00e9ponymes (quand ce n’est pas le premier d’un groupe), puisque c’est mon premier contact avec le groupe. Avant d’entrer dans les d\u00e9tails, je voudrais m’\u00e9riger contre une mauvaise habitude qui persiste un peu trop \u00e0 mon go\u00fbt. Celle qui consiste \u00e0 classifier chaque groupe \u00e0 chanteuse comme du metal symphonique ! M\u00eame si dans le cas qui nous int\u00e9resse, certains \u00e9l\u00e9ments peuvent \u00eatre associ\u00e9s \u00e0 du \u00ab\u00a0sympho\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Beyond The Black<\/i><\/u>\u00a0\u00bb est, \u00e0 mon avis, globalement un album de power metal ! Maintenant que j’ai r\u00e9tabli la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 (en toute modestie bien entendu !), nous pouvons plonger ensemble dans les d\u00e9tails de cet opus.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

L’album est compos\u00e9 de 10 pistes et s’ouvre avec \u00ab\u00a0Is There Anybody Out Here<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, qui sans r\u00e9volutionner le genre s’av\u00e8re assez efficace. Le son des guitares est incisif et me pla\u00eet beaucoup pour apporter de la puissance. Au fil de l’album on d\u00e9c\u00e8le pas mal de petites touches d’originalit\u00e9 : espagnoles pour \u00ab\u00a0Is There Anybody Out Here<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, celtes pour \u00ab\u00a0Reincarnation<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, orientales pour \u00ab\u00a0Dancing In The Dark<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0Not In Our Name<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. En parlant de \u00ab\u00a0Reincarnation<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, c’est probablement le titre qui reprend le plus de \u00ab\u00a0codes\u00a0\u00bb du sympho, notamment avec l’alternance de chant avec la pr\u00e9sence de quelques growls <\/i>pendant le refrain. L’apport des cornemuses (? D\u00e9sol\u00e9 je ne suis pas un expert, je peux me tromper sur l’instrument !) apporte une petite originalit\u00e9 bienvenue. \u00ab\u00a0Free Me<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb oscille \u00e9galement entre le power et le sympho, la puissance du refrain compar\u00e9e au couplet apporte un relief au titre tout comme l’encha\u00eenement solo de guitare \/ pont.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00ab\u00a0Winter Is Coming<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb retourne dans le power pur jus et poss\u00e8de un super riff d’introduction. Encore une fois, le solo de guitare est tr\u00e8s bon, ce qui est une constante de \u00ab\u00a0Beyond The Black<\/i><\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. Petit point faible, l’abus de multi-pistes sur le chant de Jennifer Haben<\/i>, chose que je n’appr\u00e9cie pas vraiment. On reste dans la m\u00eame veine avec \u00ab\u00a0Into The Light<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, morceau qui sonne tout classique, mais toujours port\u00e9 par une bonne session rythmique incisive. Comme tout album de power qui se respecte, il y a au moins une balade, ici \u00ab\u00a0Wide Awake<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0. Elle permet de mettre en avant la tr\u00e8s belle voix de Jennifer Haben<\/i>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Le rythme du couplet et les petites notes l\u00e9g\u00e8rement orientalisantes de \u00ab\u00a0Dancing In The Dark<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb donnent toute l’originalit\u00e9 \u00e0 la chanson, qui reste tr\u00e8s convaincante dans ses lignes de chant, particuli\u00e8rement le refrain. Je me r\u00e9p\u00e8te mais le solo de guitare, certes court, est encore une fois tr\u00e8s bon. \u00ab\u00a0Raise Your Head<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb propose une tr\u00e8s belle performance de Jennifer Habel<\/i> avec de belles lignes de chant, mais au d\u00e9triment des instruments qui se retrouvent l\u00e9g\u00e8rement en retrait. Encore de petites touches orientales pour \u00ab\u00a0Not In Our Name<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb et une vraie alternance entre les chants clairs et les growls <\/i>de Chris Hemdsd\u00f6rfer<\/i> qui est assez agr\u00e9able \u00e0 l’oreille. C’est probablement un de mes morceaux pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 de ce \u00ab\u00a0Beyond The Black<\/i><\/u>\u00a0\u00bb dans son originalit\u00e9. L’album se conclut avec la poignante \u00ab\u00a0I Remember Dying<\/u>\u00ab\u00a0, port\u00e9e par le chant de Jennifer <\/i>et les choeurs de\u00a0Chris Hermsd\u00f6rfer<\/i> et\u00a0Tobi Lodes<\/i> sur le refrain.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Pour une premi\u00e8re \u00e9coute de Beyond The Black<\/b>, c’est une bonne surprise. J’ai particuli\u00e8rement appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 le son des guitares et de la rythmique en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral qui insufflent une vraie \u00e9nergie \u00e0 l’album, tout comme les soli de guitare qui sont tr\u00e8s bons. De plus, chaque chanson \u00e0 sa propre identit\u00e9 et des petites influences ici et l\u00e0. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 tout \u00e7a, on arrive \u00e0 un \u00ab\u00a0Beyond The Black<\/i><\/u>\u00a0\u00bb qui certes n’invente rien mais qui est diablement efficace !<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
