Rivers of Nihil <\/b>reviennent avec leurs quatri\u00e8me album \u00ab\u00a0The Work<\/u><\/i>\u00a0\u00bb. Ceux qui connaissent le groupe savent que chaque album correspond \u00e0 une saison. Et si vous ne le savez pas, maintenant vous le savez\u00a0! Le printemps pour leur premier album, l’\u00e9t\u00e9 avec leur second, l’automne avec leur troisi\u00e8me et enfin pour conclure on va d\u00e9couvrir l’hiver avec \u00ab\u00a0The Work<\/u><\/i>\u00a0\u00bb. Rivers of Nihil <\/b>est un groupe de death metal, mais plus maintenant. Laissez-moi vous expliquer\u00a0: avec leur troisi\u00e8me opus \u00ab\u00a0Where Owls Know my Name<\/u><\/i>\u00a0\u00bb, ils avaient pris un tournant plus progressif et on \u00e9tait le fer de lance du mouvement \u00ab\u00a0saxophone metal\u00a0\u00bb (pour ainsi dire). Avec \u00ab\u00a0The Work<\/u><\/i>\u00a0\u00bb, le groupe ne veut pas tourner en rond et pousse encore plus les limites de leur sons. Exit les clich\u00e9s, Rivers of Nihil <\/b>\u00e9volue maintenant dans leur propre sph\u00e8re sonore. Ils nous d\u00e9livrent un album aussi visc\u00e9ral que c\u00e9r\u00e9bral. Ils vous faudra plusieurs \u00e9coutes pour pouvoir vous impr\u00e9gner de toute la richesse musicale de ce petit bijou de… metal\u00a0! \u00ab\u00a0The Work<\/u><\/i>\u00a0\u00bb est l’album le plus long de leur carri\u00e8re (plus d’une heure au compteur), mais aussi le plus accessible de leur discographie. Ce n’est pas une heure de blast beat et de growl non stop\u00a0: comme je le disais pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment, cet album est une incroyable richesse sonore. Preuve par l’ouverture de l’album \u00ab\u00a0The Tower<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb. C’est du Rivers of Nihil <\/b>au son plus calme, voix claire et piano sont l\u00e0 pour vous accueillir. C’est du jamais vu, mais c’est tellement prenant. Ils n’ont pas peur de d\u00e9plaire et assument leur prise de risque. Mais ne vous inqui\u00e9tez pas, les grosses guitares et la grosse voix de Jake<\/i> sont l\u00e0 pour enfoncer le clou, avant de de repartir dans la pl\u00e9nitude du d\u00e9but de chanson. \u00c0 peine une chanson de pass\u00e9 et leurs intentions sont bien claires\u00a0: Rivers of Nihil <\/b>est l\u00e0 pour tout chambouler et vous emmener dans leur nouvelle bulle. Cette fois-ci la surprise est double, \u00ab\u00a0The Work<\/u><\/i>\u00a0\u00bb est leur premier concept album. Adam Biggs<\/i> (parolier) et Brody Uttley<\/i> (compositeur) ont concoct\u00e9 un album tout simplement unique, musicalement et lyriquement. Le th\u00e8me \u00ab\u00a0The Work<\/u><\/i>\u00a0\u00bb revient r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement sur tout l’album (\u00ab\u00a0do the work\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0make this work\u00a0\u00bb). Et la deuxi\u00e8me surprise, c’est l’ajout du synth\u00e9 \u00e0 leur musique. \u00ab\u00a0Where Owls Know my Name<\/u><\/i>\u00a0\u00bb \u00e0 fait vibrer les fans du groupe avec l’ajout du saxophone. Mais cette fois-ci, le groupe prend des risques \u00e0 vouloir diversifier leur musique, comme je vous l’ai dit pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment. Rivers of Nihil<\/b> n’est plus simplement un groupe de death metal. Ils sont bien plus maintenant. Et c’est bien l\u00e0, l’int\u00e9r\u00eat de cette nouvelle livraison. On d\u00e9couvre un groupe avec de nouvelles id\u00e9es et de nouvelles intentions. Pour \u00eatre honn\u00eate, j’ai \u00e9t\u00e9 un peu dubitatif sur leur premier single \u00ab\u00a0Clean<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0: il \u00e9tait bon, mais pas transcendant. Mais c’est en ayant \u00e9cout\u00e9 leur \u0153uvre jusqu’au bout que tout s’imbriquent parfaitement, et finalement \u00ab\u00a0Clean<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb est vraiment excellente. Le groupe nous offre ici leur album le plus accessible musicalement. Les chansons comme \u00ab\u00a0The Tower<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Wait<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Tower 2<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb et surtout \u00ab\u00a0Maybe One Day<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb sont des chansons que je n’aurais jamais cru pouvoir entendre de leur part. Je ne vous en dirais pas plus, je vous laisserai d\u00e9couvrir tout \u00e7a par vous m\u00eame. Mais d’un autre c\u00f4t\u00e9, le groupe envoie le mur du son avec des br\u00fblots tel que \u00ab\u00a0Dreaming Back Clockwork<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0The Void From Which No Sound Escapes<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0More?<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb et le monumental \u00ab\u00a0Terrestria IV: Work<\/u>\u00a0\u00bb. \u00ab\u00a0The Work<\/u><\/i>\u00a0\u00bb est un savant m\u00e9lange de death metal et de metal progressif mais aussi d’exp\u00e9rimentations sonores. Tout est extr\u00eamement bien dos\u00e9, et l’album passe \u00e0 une allure folle\u00a0! Ah oui j’ai oubli\u00e9… le saxophone est de retour\u00a0!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>

Pour conclure, je pense que cet album pourrait diviser les fans de la premi\u00e8re heure. <\/span><\/span>Rivers of Nihil<\/b><\/span><\/span> \u00e9volue mais peut \u00eatre un peu trop. Mais en ce qui me concerne, je trouve \u00ab\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The Work<\/u><\/i><\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u00bb absolument sensationnel. Ils arrivent \u00e0 se renouveler sur chaque nouvelle offrande, et m\u00eame si je ne suis pas un grand fan de \u00ab\u00a0progressive metal\u00a0\u00bb, cet ajout \u00e0 leur son \u00e9tait logique en somme. C’est d\u00e9stabilisant au d\u00e9but, mais c’est coh\u00e9rent et brillant de leur part. Cet album est u1e \u0153uvre qui se m\u00e9rite d’\u00eatre \u00e9cout\u00e9e du d\u00e9but jusqu’\u00e0 la fin. Un chef d’\u0153uvre de compositions. Maintenant il ne vous reste plus qu’une chose a faire\u00a0: do the work\u00a0!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
