Quarante-trois ans apr\u00e8s ses d\u00e9buts en 1983, <\/span><\/span>Megadeth<\/b><\/span><\/span> signe son <\/span><\/span>17\u00e8me album studio<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, sobrement intitul\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Megadeth<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/em>. Un choix minimaliste, presque aust\u00e8re, qui sonne comme une \u00e9vidence. Plus qu\u2019un simple disque, il s\u2019agit presque d’un <\/span><\/span>testament musical<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, d\u2019un regard frontal pos\u00e9 sur une carri\u00e8re qui a fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 le thrash metal aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de <\/span><\/span>Metallica<\/b><\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>Slayer<\/b><\/span><\/span> et <\/span><\/span>Anthrax<\/b><\/span><\/span>, au sein du l\u00e9gendaire <\/span><\/span>Big Four<\/span><\/span><\/em>. Toujours emmen\u00e9 par <\/span><\/span>Dave Mustaine<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/strong>, le groupe s\u2019appuie sur une formation solide : compos\u00e9e de <\/span><\/span>Dirk Verbeuren<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/strong> \u00e0 la batterie, <\/span><\/span>James<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/strong> LoMenzo<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/strong> \u00e0 la basse et <\/span><\/span>Teemu<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/strong> M\u00e4ntysaari<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/strong> \u00e0 la guitare. Une alchimie musicale qui permet \u00e0 Megadeth de livrer un album sans fioritures, qui va droit au but, anim\u00e9 par une urgence palpable.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

D\u00e8s <\/span><\/span>\u00ab <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Tipping Point<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/strong> \u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/strong>,<\/span><\/span> premier single et titre d\u2019ouverture, le ton est donn\u00e9. La basse et la batterie imposent un tempo dense et martial, pendant que les guitares tracent des lignes ac\u00e9r\u00e9es. L\u2019introduction plonge imm\u00e9diatement l\u2019auditeur dans le bain : Megadeth ne regarde pas en arri\u00e8re, il avance. <\/span><\/span>\u00ab <\/span><\/span><\/strong>I Don\u2019t Care<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/strong> \u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/strong> prolonge cette dynamique avec une tension quasi permanente, port\u00e9e par des riffs incisifs et une voix plus nasillarde que jamais, provocante, sans compromis. L\u2019album laisse \u00e9galement une place centrale \u00e0 la guitare, notamment sur <\/span><\/span>\u00ab <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Let There Be Shred<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/strong> \u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, v\u00e9ritable hommage \u00e0 la six-cordes. Mustaine y d\u00e9montre qu\u2019il n\u2019a rien perdu de sa technicit\u00e9, transformant les contraintes physiques en une intensit\u00e9 brute, concentr\u00e9e, presque rageuse. Le discours est clair : pas de d\u00e9monstration vaine, seulement l\u2019essentiel.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Sur le plan th\u00e9matique, <\/span><\/span>Megadeth<\/span><\/span><\/em> aborde la <\/span><\/span>fin de cycle<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, la <\/span><\/span>d\u00e9sillusion<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, le <\/span><\/span>d\u00e9fi \u00e0 l\u2019autorit\u00e9<\/span><\/span><\/strong> et la <\/span><\/span>r\u00e9sistance individuelle<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. Ces id\u00e9es culminent sur <\/span><\/span>\u00ab <\/span><\/span><\/strong>The Last Note<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/strong> \u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, m<\/span><\/span>orceau final avant le bonus, qui agit comme une \u00e9pitaphe solennelle. Plus r\u00e9sign\u00e9e que nostalgique, la chanson se conclut par des arp\u00e8ges acoustiques, donnant l\u2019impression d\u2019un adieu lucide et assum\u00e9. Des titres comme<\/span><\/span> \u00ab <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Another Bad Day<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/strong> \u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/strong> ou <\/span><\/span>\u00ab <\/span><\/span><\/strong>I Am War<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/strong> \u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/strong> rappellent \u00e9galement l\u2019importance de la section rythmique, avec un <\/span><\/span>Dirk Verbeuren<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/strong> implacable derri\u00e8re les f\u00fbts, lourd et pr\u00e9cis, soutenu par une basse qui ne se contente jamais d\u2019accompagner. Le bonus track <\/span><\/span>\u00ab <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Ride The Lightning<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/strong> \u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/strong>,<\/span><\/span> n\u2019est pas anodin. Co-\u00e9crit \u00e0 l\u2019origine avec <\/span><\/span>James<\/i><\/span><\/span> Hetfield<\/i><\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>Lars<\/i><\/span><\/span> Ulrich<\/i><\/span><\/span> et <\/span><\/span>Cliff<\/i><\/span><\/span> Burton<\/i><\/span><\/span> \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque o\u00f9 Mustaine faisait encore partie de la bande. Le morceau conserve sa structure originelle tout en adoptant un tempo plus rapide, comme il l’avait fait pour <\/span><\/span>\u00ab\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em>The Mechanix<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/em> qui d\u00e9fiait \u00ab\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em>The Four Horsemen<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00bb dans leur premier album<\/span><\/span><\/em>. Plac\u00e9 en fin de tracklist, le morceau donne le sentiment qu\u2019une boucle est enfin boucl\u00e9e. <\/span><\/span><\/p>

Avec ses <\/span><\/span>11 morceaux<\/span><\/span><\/strong> n\u2019exc\u00e9dant pas les cinq minutes, <\/span><\/span>Meg<\/span><\/span><\/em>adeth<\/span><\/span><\/em> va droit au but. Pas de lignes de guitare inutiles et pas vraiment d\u2019effets superflus : l\u2019essentiel est l\u00e0, port\u00e9 par une <\/span><\/span>alchimie guitaristique \u00e9vidente entre <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Teemu M\u00e4ntysaari<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/strong> et <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Dave Mustaine<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/strong>, avec une vision du thrash metal intacte. <\/span><\/span>Si cet album marque bel et bien la fin de l\u2019aventure, Mustaine a fait le choix de <\/span><\/span>partir quand le feu br\u00fble encore, dans la ferveur et en pleine possession de ses moyens (malgr\u00e9 les s\u00e9quelles physiques ayant r\u00e9cemment affect\u00e9 son jeu de guitare)<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. Un adieu per\u00e7ant, digne et coh\u00e9rent. Plus qu\u2019une r\u00e9signation, <\/span><\/span>Megadeth<\/span><\/span><\/em> d\u00e9cide de sortir par la grande porte, et avec une telle carri\u00e8re, le groupe restera un incontournable du genre et cela m\u00eame apr\u00e8s le dernier concert de sa tourn\u00e9e d\u2019adieu.
