Dire qu’il \u00e9tait attendu est un euph\u00e9misme\u2026 Le troisi\u00e8me album des Canadiens d\u2019<\/span>Anciients<\/span>, sort 8 ans apr\u00e8s l’excellent \u201c<\/span>Voice of the Void<\/span>\u201d. <\/span>Apr\u00e8s autant de temps, les attentes (les miennes \u00e9galement) sont grandes. Et je me lance dans cette nouvelle offrande avec le sourire aux l\u00e8vres. Pour ceux qui ne les connaissent pas, imaginez un groupe qui arrive \u00e0 m\u00e9langer le heavy metal, le death metal, le prog et qui y ajoute un peu de thrash metal: voil\u00e0, \u00e7a donne tout simplement Anciients.<\/span>

D\u00e8s les premi\u00e8res notes de \u201c<\/span>Forbidden Sanctuary<\/span>\u201d, le groupe continue avec le son qui leur est si particulier. Autant le dire d’embl\u00e9e, cette ouverture de bal est une ode au heavy metal, le groupe s’inspire et se r\u00e9approprie des classiques tels ceux de Led Zeppelin et Black Sabbath, et nous offre 8 minutes de pur bonheur. La facilit\u00e9 qu\u2019ils ont \u00e0 tout m\u00e9langer et empiler les styles les uns apr\u00e8s les autres est remarquable. \u201c<\/span>Despoiled<\/span>\u201d continue sur la lanc\u00e9e, mais o\u00f9 ils mettent un peu plus l’accent sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 death metal. Le morceau se cl\u00f4ture de mani\u00e8re tr\u00e8s thrash\/death avec un finish bien lourd pour une chanson qui l’est tout autant. \u201c<\/span>Is it Your God<\/span>\u201d est la piste la plus \u00ab\u00a0prog\u00a0\u00bb de l’album, avec ces 7 minutes, le groupe prend plus le temps et allonge leurs riffs. Suivi de \u201c<\/span>Melt your God<\/span>\u201d, leur premier single, qui est tr\u00e8s solide et montre presque tout le potentiel du groupe en termes d’\u00e9criture. \u201c<\/span>Celestial Tyrant<\/span>\u201d me rappelle beaucoup le style, tr\u00e8s thrashy heavy, que seuls les g\u00e9ants de <\/span>Mot\u00f6rhead <\/span>savent faire. Toutefois, les chansons s’encha\u00eenent, et l’\u00e9coute de cet album prend fin, et me voil\u00e0 surpris\u2026<\/span>

De cette surprise je me relance dans une \u00e9coute int\u00e9grale de l\u2019album, et mon ressenti se confirme. Que s’est-il pass\u00e9? Le type nous fait l’\u00e9loge de l’ouverture du nouvel album, il nous bassine avec le style du groupe et finalement, il est d\u00e9\u00e7u? Musicalement l’album est bon, les musiciens se r\u00e9galent et nos oreilles sont ravies. Le groupe encha\u00eene riff sur riff, passages progressif, et tout… Les fans de la premi\u00e8re heure seront des plus ravis ainsi que ceux qui aiment le m\u00e9lange de styles. La production et le mixage sont impeccables. Absolument tout est fait pour que ce soit un chef-d’\u0153uvre! Mais ce qui me chagrine un peu, c\u2019est qu\u2019il n’y a aucun moment marquant dans cet album\u2026 alors que leur pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent opus en \u00e9tait rempli, celui-ci est plut\u00f4t monotone. Les 2 premi\u00e8res chansons sont vraiment excellentes, les compositions sont vari\u00e9es, tout comme le reste de l’album, mais \u00e0 chaque fois le constat est le m\u00eame: aucun moment de folie ne s’en d\u00e9gage. Pourtant sur le papier tout \u00e9tait all\u00e9chant, et d\u00e8s l’annonce de la sortie, je savais qu’il allait \u00eatre dans mon top 10 de 2024. Mais au lieu de \u00e7a, c’est une terrible d\u00e9sillusion pour moi, je m’attendais peut-\u00eatre \u00e0 beaucoup plus\u2026<\/span>

Maintenant il faut quand m\u00eame aller \u00e9couter ce tr\u00e8s bon album, car ceci reste qu\u2019un avis personnel. Malgr\u00e9 tout, le groupe fait vraiment partie de ceux que j\u2019aime le plus, notamment parce qu\u2019il se distingue par son style unique. Le heavy est certainement l’un des styles que j’appr\u00e9cie le moins dans le metal, et pourtant ce groupe transpire le heavy metal et a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 me faire appr\u00e9cier ce c\u00f4t\u00e9 que j’aimais le moins. Cependant, m\u00eame si la d\u00e9ception se lit sur ces quelques lignes, prenez le temps de d\u00e9couvrir ce groupe et j’esp\u00e8re que vous accrocherez plus \u00e0 cet album, que je l’ai fait!<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
