S\u2019il y a bien une chose qu’on ne peut pas reprocher au groupe (et \u00e0 <\/span>Shawter <\/span>en particulier, le ma\u00eetre penseur du groupe), c’est la facult\u00e9 qu\u2019il a \u00e0 vouloir bousculer l’auditeur et proposer de nouvelles sonorit\u00e9s d\u2019album en album. <\/span>Leur dernier album \u201c<\/span>By Night<\/span>\u201d a \u00e9t\u00e9 un changement radical pour le groupe: qu’on aime ou pas, il faut reconna\u00eetre la prise de risque op\u00e9r\u00e9e par le combo. Qu’en est il de \u201c<\/span>Different Breed<\/span>\u201d? Ce 9<\/span>\u00e8me<\/span><\/span> album va-t-il aller encore plus loin dans la diversit\u00e9 ou bien au contraire revenir aux sources?<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201c<\/span>Genes15<\/span>\u201d est l’introduction de ce nouvel album et d\u00e9bute par les cris d’un b\u00e9b\u00e9. Oui, vous avez bien lu, ces cris ne sont pas anodins. En soit il a bien des significations: une naissance ou m\u00eame une renaissance\u2026 On peut m\u00eame facilement faire un parall\u00e8le avec le nom et la pochette de l\u2019album, ce qui donnerait naissance \u00e0 une race diff\u00e9rente, mi-homme mi-animale. S’ensuit le growl d\u00e9vastateur de Shawter en guise d’ouverture de bal. Le son est brut de d\u00e9coffrage: tous les instruments sont r\u00e9ellement mis en avant avec tr\u00e8s peu d’artifice technologiques, c’est du tr\u00e8s lourd, et nous en sommes seulement \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re minutes de l’album. \u201c<\/span>Different Breed<\/span>\u201d n’est pas la continuit\u00e9 de leur dernier album: c’est pour ainsi dire un condens\u00e9 de tout ce que le groupe a pu nous proposer durant ces 20 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es. Mais pourtant, le groupe arrive toujours \u00e0 d\u00e9stabiliser son audience avec une surprise sortie de la manche (se r\u00e9f\u00e9rer au dernier titre de l’album). Comme je le disais, cet album est comme un concentr\u00e9 des meilleures facettes du groupe. Les titres tels que \u201c<\/span>Distant Cry<\/span>\u201d et \u201c<\/span>At the End of the Day<\/span>\u201d montrent peut-\u00eatre le c\u00f4t\u00e9 le plus classique du groupe: ce c\u00f4t\u00e9 brut et ultra m\u00e9lodique qui constitue la \u00ab\u00a0signature series made by Dagoba\u00a0\u00bb. Mais certains d’entre eux peuvent para\u00eetre un poil \u00ab\u00a0trop facile\u00a0\u00bb notamment avec \u201c<\/span>At the End of the Day<\/span>\u201d, mais ce n\u2019est sans compter cette mauvaise habitude qu\u2019a <\/span>Shawter<\/span>, de vous mettre un refrain dans la t\u00eate. C’est l\u00e0 tout son talent !<\/span><\/p>

Ensuite il y a le c\u00f4t\u00e9 plus brutal o\u00f9 le groupe est capable de sortir les armes pour partir en guerre. \u201c<\/span>Arrival of the Dead<\/u><\/span>\u201d, \u201c<\/span>Minotaur<\/u><\/span>\u201d, \u201c<\/span>Phenix Noir<\/u><\/span>\u201d et \u201c<\/span>Cerberus<\/u><\/span>\u201d<\/span> font partis de cette liste de gros morceaux avec des passages tr\u00e8s extr\u00eames, certainement les plus lourds du groupe. Mention sp\u00e9ciale pour l’\u00e9criture des riffs, qui ont l\u2019air tellement plus inspir\u00e9s et travaill\u00e9s pour ce nouvel album que pour l\u2019album \u201c<\/span>By Night<\/span>\u201d, et \u00e7a fait terriblement plaisir. Enfin, il y a celles qui sont plus travaill\u00e9es et qui sortent du lot par leur ambiance, notamment \u201c<\/span>Different Breed<\/span>\u201d et \u201c<\/span>Vega<\/span>\u00ab\u00a0. Deux chansons qui sonnent typiquement Dagoba avec de gros riffs et des bonnes m\u00e9lodies, et qui montrent la facilit\u00e9 pour le frontman de proposer quelque chose de catchy mais avec un peu plus de profondeur. Et pour finir, la cerise sur le g\u00e2teau se nomme \u201c<\/span>Alpha<\/span>\u201d. Je m’\u00e9tais imagin\u00e9 une conclusion d\u2019album ultra violente, comme l’\u00e9tait l’ensemble de cet album, mais une nouvelle fois le groupe sort des sentiers battus et nous d\u00e9voile une longue outro instrumentale de toute beaut\u00e9. Des notes de piano sont mises en avant avec des cuivres qui viennent homog\u00e9n\u00e9iser l’ensemble. C\u2019est une conclusion ultra surprenante qui pourrait plaire ou d\u00e9plaire (j’\u00e9tais pas convaincu \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re \u00e9coute), mais finalement cette outro colle parfaitement: le groupe refuse d’\u00eatre cantonn\u00e9 \u00e0 des registres et fait ce que bon lui semble. L’album s’ouvre avec une d\u00e9ferlante de violence et se conclut de mani\u00e8re la plus paisible possible. Chapeau !<\/span><\/p>

\u201c<\/span>Different Breed<\/span>\u201d poss\u00e8de de nombreux et solides arguments et quelques petites faiblesses, mais dans l’ensemble c’est clairement ce type d’album que je veux entendre quand je veux \u00e9couter du Dagoba. <\/span>Il me tarde de d\u00e9couvrir ce que le groupe proposera pour leur 10<\/span>\u00e8me<\/span><\/span> album\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
